Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) announced its endorsement of U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Col. Allen Weh, who is running to unseat Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.). If elected, Col. Weh would be serving his first term in the U.S. Senate.
Sen. Udall has one of the lowest ratings among his fellow members of Congress with a lifetime score of 4 percent, considered “Hostile” to taxpayers. In CCAGW’s2013 Congressional Ratings, Sen. Udall tied nine other senators with a score of 2 percent, the second-lowest rating in the Senate.
CCAGW PAC based its endorsement of Col. Weh on his answers to the CCAGW PAC 2014 Candidate Questionnaire. Col. Weh’s responses were consistent with the organization’s principles, including support for fiscal restraint, budget reform, and a line-item veto; a permanent ban on earmarks; government management and procurement reform; making permanent the moratorium on Internet taxation; free trade; the full repeal of Obamacare and its replacement with consumer-choice initiatives; intellectual property rights; and energy independence. In harmony with CCAGW PAC’s positions, Col. Weh also expressed opposition to costly government mandates and regulations, as well as subsidies and regulations that distort the free market, prop up specific industries, or cater to special interests. “Based on his support of our principles and policies, there is no doubt that Col. Weh would serve the citizens of New Mexico with great distinction if elected to the U.S. Senate,” said CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz. “I urge New Mexicans to vote for him on November 4th so he can aid in the fight against egregious federal spending and to help make government more accountable and transparent to taxpayers.”
CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
