Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) announced its endorsement of four Colorado candidates: Rep. Cory Gardner (R) for the U.S. Senate, former Rep. Bob Beauprez (R) for Governor, and two incumbents for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Reps. Mike Coffman (R) and Doug Lamborn (R).
Rep. Gardner, who is seeking to unseat Sen. Mark Udall (D), has a lifetime rating of 80 percent, earning him the title of “Taxpayer Hero.” By comparison, Sen. Udall has a lifetime rating of 16 percent, considered “Hostile” to taxpayers. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2002-2006, Rep. Beauprez, who seeks to oust Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), earned the title of “Taxpayer Hero” every year of his tenure in Congress and left with a lifetime rating of 86 percent. With a lifetime score of 95 percent, Rep. Lamborn has the highest lifetime rating of the current Colorado congressional delegation, while Rep. Coffman has a lifetime rating of 90 percent.
If elected, Rep. Gardner and former Rep. Beauprez would be serving their first terms as U.S. Senator and Governor of Colorado, respectively. If re-elected, Reps. Coffman and Lamborn would be serving their fourth and fifth terms, respectively.
CCAGW PAC based its endorsements on each candidate’s lifetime score as listed in CCAGW’s Congressional Ratings. Each of these candidates is a “Taxpayer Hero” with a lifetime rating of 80 percent or greater.
“During their tenures in the House, these members of Congress served the citizens of Colorado with great distinction,” said CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz. “On top of their prestigious voting records, they worked with their colleagues to restrain the growth of federal spending and to help make government more accountable and transparent to taxpayers.”
“Their abiding commitment to fiscal conservatism is one of the many reasons that I urge Coloradans to vote for them on November 4 so that Rep. Beauprez can bring fiscal discipline to the statehouse, while Rep. Gardner can return to Washington, D.C. as a U.S. Senator to protect, along with Reps. Coffman and Lamborn, the interests of both their constituents and all Americans,” concluded Schatz.
CCAGW PAC is affiliated with the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, a 501(c)(4) organization. CCAGW PAC’s mission is to support political candidates who will fight to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government and represent the best interests of taxpayers.
